Telling Details:Photorealism in Taiwan centers on art of the 1970s and extends to art language derived from this context since the 1980s. The exhibition promotes the spirit of realism and new research into this important genre of painting in Taiwan.Artists specially invited for their involvement with the Photorealist style include Hsia Yan, C.J. Yao, Han Hsiang-ning, Hilo Chen, Szeto Keung, and Cho Yeou Jui. Artists who have devoted their lives to painting and represent different eras of Taiwanese art history have also been invited to exhibit their works including Huang Ming-chang, Yeh Tzu-chi,Ku Ho-chung, Kuo Chwen, Lee Chihsin, Chou Chu-wang, and Huang Chia-ning. The exhibition presents Photorealism from different eras and different worldviews, a variety exemplified by drifting roses symbolizing emotional setbacks, depictions of natural scenery, themes related to daily life, and profound explorations of life and death. The exhibition features the unique warmth of Photoralism in the Taiwanese context which emphasizes humanistic concerns of this international art trend.
