Hakka Art and Culture Center

The “Hakka Art and Culture Center” was established on February 22, 1998. It is located on the third floor of the Daan District’s Community Center (formerly Taipei City Daan Land Office) and is adjacent to Daan Forest Park and Jianguo Holiday Flower Market. Entering the Art and Culture Center, you find yourself immersed in the rich Hakka scholarship and literature, and together with the exhibition about the Yimin Festival, the heroic struggle of the ancestors against the rebels, seem to flash before your eyes. Embodying courage and dignity, they inspire a deep respect. The rich collection of books in the library has attracted many Hakka cultural researchers and the public. Cultural inheritance is no longer limited to oral transmission between the old and young, but through the development of modern information, the history, life, folk songs, drama of Hakka culture, and other various content are classified and preserved using multimedia, digital content, video, etc. In the future, the richness and diversity of these Hakka cultural information may be transmitted to the households through the metropolitan area network (MAN) and the Internet. Lectures and performances are often held in the exhibition venue, which is open to groups and people in the community to apply and use. This has made the Hakka Art and Culture Center a place for cultural exchanges between Hakka folks and community residents. The Art and Culture Center is an important place to carry out the propagation and passing on of the Hakka language. It regularly runs courses related to Hakka language teaching, serving the Hakka community and the general public. Through the course content and learning, the seeds of Hakka culture are nourished and cultivated. It is hoped that in the future, the glorious flowers of Hakka culture will flourish everywhere.
