Date Major Events January 15,2016 Taipei City Government implements the Scheme to Broaden the Scope of Electronic Official Document Energy Conservation and Paper Reduction Operations to reduce paper use for documentation by 97.12% and for meetings by 88.21%. January 24,2016 Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je and delegates visit Tokyo, Yokohama, Osaka, and Kagawa-ken (Japan) to learn about city planning, returning on January 30th. January 27,2016 Taipei City Government signs an agreement of sister cities with the City of Quit. February 3,2016 Taipei City Government announced the “Implementation Plan for the Reduction of Official Documents Among Various Authorities;” through diverting business and grouping personnel, the number of levels involved in signing and approving documents is reduced. February 24,2016 Taipei City Government announced the “2016 to 2018 Implementation Plan for the Permanent Preservation of Documents Through Digital Filing,” initiating the digitalization and permanent preservation of files. February 27,2016 Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je completed the one-day “twin-tower” bicycle trip from Taipei to Kaohsiung, thereby practicing the sportsmanship emphasized in Velo-city Global 2016. March 8,2016 Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je and delegates visit San Francisco, Silicon Valley, Phoenix, and Los Angeles (USA) to learn about city planning, returning on March 8. March 23,2016 The Secretariat organized the 2016 Basic Training Course for File Management for Taipei City Government; as of March 25th, two offerings of courses were held with a total of 246 participants. March 30,2016 The Secretariat organized the 2016 Managerial Course for File Management for Taipei City Government; as of March 31st, two offerings of courses were held with a total of 162 participants. March 31,2016 Taipei City Government promoted and launched the online document approval operations by the heads of department. April 1,2016 Taipei City Government prohibits disposable plastic and melamine utensils in order to put resource reduction and garbage reduction policies into practice and safeguard the health of employees, teachers, and students. City Hall sets the example, and municipal agencies and schools begin full-scale implementation from August 1st. April 18,2016 In accordance with the 2016 Wanan drill no. 39 in Northern Taiwan, the Secretariat oversaw the drill of the Taipei City Government building, which involved 5,600 people. May 2,2016 The Secretariat, the Research, Development and Evaluation Commission, and the Department of Government Ethics of Taipei City Government co-organized the “2016 Administration Workshop;” as of May 5th, a total of four offerings have been held. August 17,2016 Taipei City Government Deputy Secretary General Lin Wan-fa and delegates attend the Taipei Day event hosted by partner city Wellington (New Zealand). The event ends on August 19th. August 23,2016 Taipei City Government holds the 2016 Taipei–Shanghai City Forum, with a total of 284 participants, and signs three cooperative memoranda on marathons, movie festivals, and district administration. August 25,2016 Taipei City Government stipulated the “2016 to 2019 Planned File Removal Project,” which involves the removal and termination of the Secretariat’s files classified under “international affairs” between 1956 and 1991 and “general” (permanent files) between 1950 and 1976. September 9,2016 José Isabel Blandón Figueroa, mayor of Panama City (Republic of Panama), sister city to Taipei, visits Taipei City Government. September 23,2016 Vice Mayor for Administrative Affairs Kim Seung-su of Daegu Metropolitan City Government (Republic of Korea), sister city of Taipei, visits Taipei City Government. October 1,2016 Taipei City Government highlighted the promotion of online approval operations for official documents that require single level approval. October 12,2016 Taipei City signs the “Reaffirmation of the sister-city agreement between the city of Taipei, Republic of China, and the city of Phoenix, United States of America” with Phoenix City, USA. October 21,2016 Fumiko Hayashi, mayor of Yokohama City, partner city of Taipei, visits Taipei City Government. October 22,2016 The Secretariat of Taipei City Government held the “Taipei City Government Heads of Department Exchange,” where the mayor led a group of 30 heads of first-level authorities to visit organic farming operations in Hualien County and to market the 2017 Universiade; the exchange continued to the 23rd. November 11,2016 Taipei City Government announced revisions to the “Regulations Governing the Format of Invitations from Taipei City Government and Its Affiliated Authorities and Schools.” November 15,2016 Michael Rawlings, mayor of Dallas City, sister city of Taipei, visits Taipei City Government. December 1,2016 Taipei City Government announced revisions to the “Regulations Governing the Assessment, Awards, and Penalties Concerning the File Management Performance of Various Subordinate Authorities of Taipei City Government.” December 25,2016 Taipei City Mayor Ko Wen-je held a press conference on the second anniversary of the day he took office and held the first mobile municipal council in Wanhua District. Subsequently, mobile municipal councils were held each month at different district offices, giving locals an opportunity to voice their opinions.
