Among the 53 venues of the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade, the first competition venue - Taipei Gymnasium - was completed on the 13th of October, 2016. Five other training venues - Taipei Neihu Vocational High School Gymnasium, Taipei Municipal Nanhu High School Gymnasium, Central Police University Gymnasium and Beitou Resort Basketball Court and Taipei Arena has also completed.
The main renovation of Taipei Gymnasium included replacing the aging elevators in order to ensure safety. The additional space arrangement and movement route will also be re-designed to make things easier for the athletes and the participants. The interior walls were re-painted and new lights were installed to meet the competition requirements. The seats and the floorboards were replaced. In addition, the railings were removed and replaced by transparent glasses to provide the audience a better view. During the renovation, the Department of Sports, Taipei City Government was also busy applying for AED certification, and the emergency first response training of the administrative staffs. This is to further improve the safety and security operation at the venue. Taipei Gymnasium will be renewed with a new look for participating in the Taipei 2017 Summer Universiade and it will open a new chapter for the stadium.
