A Strong Earthquake Shook Northeastern Taiwan
Approximately 04:25 this morning (22nd), an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.4 Ritcher scale and depth of 61.9 kilometers struck Datong Township, Yilan County (Northeastern Taiwan). The recorded earthquake intensity for Taipei metropolis was 4 and 2 at Feitsui dam.
Soon after the quake, Feitsui Reservoir Administration initiated dam safety inspection to examine and evaluate the safety of the dam. According to the results of site inspection and instrumentation observation, Feitsui dam is found to be stable and safe.
