2013 Taipei Hakka Yimin Festival

Over the years, Taipei Hakka Affairs Commission (HAC) has hosted the Taipei Hakka Yimin Festivaland achieved remarkable results. This year, HAC will celebrate the 26th Taipei Hakka Yimin Festival on October 19 and 20.. To underline this important event, we invited 26 Yimin Temple delegations from all over the island to celebrate this occasion with us and to participate in a series of activities.
In the morning of October 19, we will host the God-Welcoming Parade, which has attracted large numbers of participants over the years. This year, there will be delegations from 26 Yimin Temples taking part in the parade, to both highlight the immense influence of this occasion to display unprecedented vitality. The procession will set out from National Theater , pass through Nanchang Road— home to a vibrant Hakka community, and arrive at Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park in time for the God-Seating Ceremony. In the evening, we will host the “Proud of Hakka Party” at the Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park to welcome Hakka people from all across the island. Famous Hakka hosts and singersare slated to make appearances at this party and bring a variety of shows from pop song to traditional folk song performances.
In the morning of October 20, the Shoulder Pole Meal Giving event will take place on the streets. There will be nearly 300 teams and more than 5,000 people and performers to join this event which will establish a new record in the event’s history. Later on, the prosperous and solemn Main Sacrifice Ceremony will be hosted by President Ma Ying Jeou and the mayor of Taipei City along with honored guests. For Yimin night, we’ve invited famous singers and celebrities to bring performances to the audience, breathing new life into Hakka culture and displaying the unsurpassable beauty of the generation. Other activities such as Hakka cuisines booth, DIY interactive activities all carry special meanings of Hakka culture.
We are not only inviting people all over Taiwan, but are also showcasing the creativity and the diverse aspects of Hakka culture, thereby embodying the unique Hakka “style”. By holding this grand event and inviting people to participate in this annual party, we seek to allow more people to learn about the Hakka spirit of passion and hospitality, hence enabling it to blossom in Taipei.
