The annual Birthday ceremony of Bagon(the Earth God)

February 2nd of the lunar calendar is the birthday of the Earth God, Bagon. In traditional Hakka culture, the Earth God is regarded as the most important guardian deity. Therefore, many people refer to the Earth God by the familial name of "Bagon", just like elderly relatives guide and protect the family. In the earliest days, the Hakka people worshipped a tree or rock as the Earth God. Later on, piles of rocks that served as altars became temples of varying size.
The annual Birthday ceremony of Bagon will be held at Taipei City Hakka Cultural Park on March 9th. There will be 17 Bagons from different districts of Taipei City participating in this big event this Saturday. We welcome people show up at the Hakka Cultural Park and celebrate this traditional event. For more information please call: 886-2-27026141 Ext.226.
