Haoran Senior Citizens Home, originally named Yang-Ming Senior Home was established in 1968. With 120 senior residents, it became one of five hostels under the supervision of the Guang Ci Senior Home-the first Public Senior Home of Taipei City in 1974.

To adapt to an aging society and provide a better living environment to the elderly, the Department of Social Welfare of Taipei City Government initiated a renewal plan in 1978 to rebuild the one story Yang-Ming Senior Hostel into two six-story buildings-Haoran Senior Citizens Home-the second Public Senior Home of Taipei City with an increased accommodation of 800 residents.
