• July 1961: The Traffic Management Team was set up by members of the Police Department, the Economic Development Bureau, and the Military Police.
• 1968: Taipei City underwent a status upgrade to become a special municipality, and the team was reorganized as the “Taipei City Traffic Management Team.”
• 1969: In accordance with the Traffic Adjudication Office Organization Ordinance, mission-oriented teams were organized and operated jointly by the Police Department and the Motor Vehicles Office.
• In March, 1997, the Act Governing the Punishment of Violation of Road Traffic Regulations was amended. Paragraph 3 of Article 8 of this act stipulated that road management agencies should set up traffic adjudication offices to handle related matters.
• After submitting the organization policies and charts to the city council and awaiting for approval, the office was officially established on July 16, 1998, to become the first legislated traffic adjudicating agency upon approval.
• The Taipei City Council approved a proposal for organizational restructure. Effective on July 1, 2008, the unit was rechristened as the “Traffic Accident Appraisal Committee, Taipei City Government” in accordance with its operational capacity, and was subsequently merged into the “Accident Investigation Section.”
