Key Points of 2008 Administration Plan

1.Updating the policies on indigenous people to keep up with time and drafting medium- and long-range plans for safeguarding the rights and interests of indigenous people residing in Taipei City.
2.Boosting service efficiency, keeping abreast with public opinions and needs, and regularly conducting survey of the living conditions of indigenous people to assess the status of policy implementation.
3.Continuing to set up aboriginal culture and arts venues to enrich the content of urban culture and turn Taipei City into an international metropolis featuring cultural diversity and ethnic harmony.
4.Promoting indigenous languages by encouraging the use of tribal dialects in family and daily life settings, building an environment in the city conducive to learning tribal dialects, and strengthening identification with ethnic culture.
5.Stepping up the operation and management of indigenous peoples community colleges and designing curriculums that better meet the needs of indigenous people so as to enhance their competitiveness in urban living and encourage lifelong learning.
6.Holding Taiwan aboriginal culture series activity to promote the traditional culture of indigenous people, and pushing for international academic and cultural exchange with other indigenous nations to enhance the visibility of Taiwan’s indigenous peoples.
7.Strengthening the functions of Ketagalan Culture Center; aside from being a multi-function venue for multimedia broadcasting, display of traditional artifacts, meetings, performing, education and training relating to indigenous people, the Center will undertake integrated planning and marketing and join the local resources available to drive tourism with aboriginal culture and promote aboriginal culture through tourism.
8.Strengthening employment service for indigenous people in compliance with the Taipei Municipal Provisions for Promoting the Employment of Indigenous People and Indigenous Peoples Employment Rights Protection Act to uphold the work rights of the indigenous people.
9.Providing technical services to indigenous people to help them improve business operation and management; promoting the aboriginal cultural business certification mark system and establishing aboriginal flagship shops to promote the development of an aboriginal culture and creative industry and ensure a viable marketing channel.
10.Pushing for indigenous community work, and based on the principle of respecting and supporting indigenous people, developing community programs in response to the diverse needs of indigenous people, such as women’s workshop, family support, and growth group to enhance the working of support groups for indigenous people in the hope that indigenous people residing in Taipei City would develop self-identity, self-awareness and ultimately self-respect.
11.Establishing a Taipei tribal village in the form of a multi-function activity center to plan lifelong learning for indigenous people, aboriginal culture industry, and training of indigenous volunteers to pass on the tribal culture.
