Han Dynasty Treasures Showcased at National Museum of History

Taipei Mayor Hau Lung-bin attended a guided tour of a Han Dynasty artifacts exhibition at the National Museum of History on July 21. The exhibition – “The Smiling Kingdom – The Terracotta Warriors of Han Yang Ling” – features a number of treasures uncovered at the tomb of a Han Dynasty emperor.

According to the mayor, there is a big difference between the terracotta statues displayed at this exhibition and the terracotta warriors discovered at the tomb of the Qin Emperor. The statues from Qin Dynasty are mostly warriors ready for battle, while the Han Dynasty version depict life during a golden age, where commoners and warriors all carry gentle smiles on their face.

The exhibition is the collaboration between the National Museum of History, United Daily News, and Han Yang Ling Museum. The show will run through September 27 at the National Museum of History.
