Tasks and Duties

There are 9 divisions and 7 offices under the Department of Education, Taipei City Government. Their responsibilities are summarized as below:
■ The Planning Division is in charge of research, reception, development and evaluation, higher education and international exchange program.
■ The Secondary Education Division is in charge of the City’s secondary school.
■ The Primary Education Division is in charge of the City’s elementary school.
■ The Preschool Education Division is in charge of the City’s preschool education.
■ The Special Education Division is in charge of the City’s special education.
■ The Continuing Education Division is in charge of the City’s social education.
■ The Physical and Health Education Division is in charge of physical and health education of the schools in Taipei City.
■ The Construction and Property Division oversees land acquisition and manages properties of the City’s public schools and social education agencies. It is in charge of the engineering design, planning, contracting and monitoring projects of school construction.
■ The Information Technology Education Division is in charge of computerization of the administrative procedures, offering support to the various divisions and offices and administering informational education.
■ The Administrative Services Office handles official correspondence, payment, and matters not related to other divisions and offices.
■ The Military Education Office supervises the total defense education in the secondary schools and above.
■ The School Inspectors’ Office is evaluating the performance of schools in Taipei City and social education agencies, and giving recommendations and ways of improvement after inspections.
■ The Accounting Office is in charge of budgeting, accounting and accounts’ auditing.
■ The Government Ethics Office is in charge of anti-corruption affair and staff evaluation.
■ The Statistics Office is responsible for compilation and analysis of statistics.
■ The Personnel Office is in charge of personnel management.
