Da-An Workshop Opening Ceremony, A place for people with disabilities to promote their living and social participation and to make the dreams come true
In order to serve people with disabilities, Department of Social welfare, Taipei City Government, keeps setting up “Community Daily Workshop” actively. Located in An-Dong Market, Da-An Workshop which had an opening ceremony on August 11, 2016 offers simple subcontract work and cultural recreation activities. Starting from the right hand side of the photo is legislator Chang Hung-Lu, the Commissioner of Department of Social Welfare, Li-Min Hsu, two of the disabilities, Director of Down Syndrome Foundation Jheng-Sia Lin, Artists Ms. Yu-Han Lian,and Mr. You-Wei Lin,and representative of Family mart. They were displaying the Time Clock which symbolizes the initiative work.
Department of Social welfare aims to promote concentrated service within the community as an objective to help more people with disabilities realize their dreams. It also offers a place for graduated students from special school to continuously learn and grow during daytime in order to not only hold the chance of being transferred to sheltered workshop as an employee in the future but also diminish their parents’ pressure of caring for them. The Commissioner of Department of Social Welfare, Li-Min Hsu, indicates that people with disabilities need the acceptance and recognition from the society as well as the support from the public to bring them closer to their dreams.
